Next will be Convergence 2 in Australia http://www.natcon.org.au/2007/guests.htm. Anyone who does see him tell him this is his last vacation, ever i intend to work him to death, over the next 200 years.

I mentioned back in March that I’d be attending and participating in the panels and such at http://2pi-con.org . I decided to take a look at their site again for updates. The Con Chair put together a video for people http://www.pi-con.org/lowdown.php .

In the past couple months I’ve been talking a lot to friends, and those submitting to me about critiquing and what it should do. One of the reoccurring themes is that it has to be explicitly honest, and how the recipient of the critique has to create and maintain emotional separation from their work. For […]

Wow! Nearly two dozen first chapters (and prologues) read, with more in the inbox. If i hadn’t had to take off five hours (two for sleep, three for cleaning) I might have gotten to keep the slightly better than one per hour pace for the whole day. An obscenely high percentage of stories made it […]
Well, right now I’m averaging just about one read and critique per hour. It looks like the submissions are favoring Urban Fantasy in genre.
I’ve run across some truly interesting concepts so far. Any submissions that where recieved after 8am this morning will be moved to the regular submissions queue.

We are rapidly approaching the Zero Hour, ladies and gentlemen. The response so for has been good, but given how many people have added me to their f-list in the past two weeks, i was really expecting more. The reading starts at midnight, and the the experiment mailbox goes off at 8am Two additional notes: […]
So far i’ve got a decent turnout. I’ve gotten a good cross section of Fantasy, Urban Fantasy, and Science Fiction. I can’t wait to see more. I’m hoping that between now and Monday morning the number of submissions will triple, so if you haven’t mailed the link to all the members of your writing group, […]

I think, one day i may have to write my own lexicon of frequently used writing terms. It’ll probably save no amount of time for my friends and clients if i send it to them along with my critiques… Now if i just had time to write it.

Some people will think this is unprofessional of me. I don’t care. This is done to illustrate why it is i don’t read cover letters until last. Granted, this is about as extreme an example of why as is possible, but still this is informative. More below. Begin letter: I am going to be as […]

It really is weird to read something by someone you know. I’ve got a submission by someone I’ve known for years in front of me, even though I’m only two paragraphs into it, i can still hear the writers voice in my head. It’s not really an overt detractor since i do like this person, […]
